5 Steps to Financial Freedom

Hello Chasers,

COVID-19 was a harsh wake-up call for many of us about financial security. It’s like the rug got pulled out from under our feet as our access to the regular pay check suddenly stopped, particularly if you were a business owner.

I’ve always loved gardening.

When my girls were little, I taught them a simple money management system using a gardening analogy. They had three accounts:

  • Sow: For special occasions like birthdays or holidays.
  • Mow: For everyday fun stuff like treats and movies.
  • Grow: For long-term goals like a car or investments.

This simple system helped them become financially savvy from a young age.

With the way the cost of living is spiralling out of control, as adults, relying on a government pension isn’t going to be enough.

We need to take control of our finances.

Over the years, I’ve seen people lose everything due to unexpected life events. They were caught off guard without a plan.

To protect yourself, you need five key plans:

  1. Rainy Day Fund: Your financial safety net for emergencies like job loss or unexpected expenses.
  2. Everyday Spending: A budget for regular bills and fun stuff.
  3. Protection Plan: Insurance to safeguard your income, home, and health.
  4. Retirement Plan: Save for your golden years through superannuation or other investments.
  5. Legacy Plan: Decide what happens to your assets after you’re gone.

With these plans in place, you’ll have more financial peace of mind and freedom to enjoy life.

Don’t let life’s surprises catch you off guard.
