Hello Chasers,
As business owners, we need to be able to harness the power to manage and use our time more effectively if we are to scale and grow our businesses.
Time is a commodity that we cannot make more of – once it is spent it is gone and is not recoverable!
The real magic in scaling and growing a business is to duplicate the productive hours of the owner because you are going to be limited in how far you can grow your business by yourself.
John Maxwell puts it this way – ‘if you can climb a mountain by yourself, then it is not a very big mountain!’
You can climb Mt Kosciuszko on your own – start in the morning and get to the summit by 2:00pm. But you cannot climb Mt Everest by yourself – you need a team (Sherpas, tents, pack mules, planning, logistics, medics etc. And even with all of this, you still may not do it!
You can build a little business on your own, but you can never build a great business by yourself!
You need a Team.
You only have a finite resource of time e.g., 8 hours per day, but this is multiplied when you have a Team e.g., 3 staff + you or 4 x 8 hours = 32 hours per day!
But even before you consider hiring your first Team member there is one very important consideration that is essential for your business – a clear vision of where you want to go!
You need to understand that for you to direct your Team members where you want to go you need to be able to outline the vision clearly.
Having a vision is the foundation for you and your Team to becoming super productive because you will all have a guide as to where you are all heading. It describes the desired long-term results of your company’s efforts. For example, an early Microsoft vision statement was “a computer on every desk and in every home.”
“A company vision statement reveals, at the highest levels, what an organization most hopes to be and achieve in the long term,” said Katie Trauth Taylor, owner and CEO of Untold Content, a writing consultancy. “It serves a somewhat lofty purpose – to harness all the company’s foresight into one impactful statement.”
A vision is supported by a vision statement – a document that states the current and future objectives of a business that:
- Describes your company’s “why,” – the reason you are doing what you do, the bigger than you purpose!
- Are essential because they reveal a common goal and direction for your employees.
- Are infused with passion, making it inspiring, and aligning it with your business’s values and goals.
Writing a vision statement for your business can be challenging because it must define your company, values and future goals. While many established companies focus on their mission statement, a vision statement is a valuable tool for inspiring your team and forging a corporate identity.
A vision statement matters because it outlines the common goal of everyone in the business. Businesses that are working toward a higher aspiration are more appealing to current and future employees.
A vision statement can affect a company’s long-term success, so take the time to create one that synthesises your ambition and mobilizes your Team.

Have a great day!
