Another Step Closer

Another Step Closer

Hello Chasers,

With such an ordinary day outside, I took advantage of doing an indoor job – waxing my plastic foundation for my first beehive.

The wax helps make the foundation acceptable to honeybees. Adding wax to the plastic foundation on new frames is often needed to add depth to the layer that the manufacturer has put on the foundation.

This will hopefully allow the bees to get a head start on building the cells they require to store their food stores – pollen, nectar & honey – as well as their new bees when the Queen can start laying her eggs.

I have a couple of final things to do in preparation for getting my Nuc (nucleus hive – a new Queen with workers) that will form the basis for my first hive. Two weeks away from collecting my bees – I can’t wait!

This is project that I have been working on since last year. I have spent my time reading, learning and participating in a beekeeping community called Hive Buddy where we are mentored by expert beekeeper, Anna Carrucan

If you would like to know more about bees or join this amazing world let me know and I’ll send you a link to our group. It truly is remarkable.

Ceebees Bees and The Bee Room is another step closer to reality

Have a great day!
