Hello Chasers,
Later this month, I will again be heading to my quarterly business conference in Sydney, where I get to hang out and mix with lots of different entrepreneurs from all over the country, from all different walks of life and from different industries.
One thing we all agree on by attending these types of events is the level of learning that we receive which accelerates our understanding so that we can easily implement the ideas.
When I get back to Warrnambool, I would review the notes that I took down and start to see ideas forming on how I could implement some of the things I learnt.
I recall a quote used in one of the presentations from a couple of years ago that was attributed to Abraham Lincoln – “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe”.
This most certainly applies to business.
Whenever you set out to wanting to achieve something, invest in the tools that you need and are going to be using. When you have a goal, you should spend some of your resources (including time) to work out how to achieve this goal.
The most important tool at our disposal for getting a better life is other people.
The people we surround ourselves with are the biggest influence on our behaviour, attitudes and results. Who you are around — what they’ve got you thinking, saying, doing and becoming — sets the course of your life and will ultimately change it (if you choose to!).
In the words of motivational speaker Jim Rohn: “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
The people you spend the most time with shape who you are. They determine what conversations dominate your attention. They affect to which attitudes and behaviours you are regularly exposed. Eventually you start to think like they think and behave like they behave.
In The Compound Effect, Darren Hardy writes: “According to research by social psychologist Dr. David McClelland of Harvard, (the people you habitually associate with) determine as much as 95 percent of your success or failure in life.”
Now, I don’t know about you, but to me that is simply HUGE!.
Just think about these important consequences.
If the dream you are chasing is bigger than the environment in which you find yourself. Then, you have to get out of that environment to see that dream fulfilled!
Surround yourself with people you admire and who are successful!
We become like the people that we (choose to) expose ourselves to. It then follows that you can accelerate your personal growth in whatever direction you desire by spending time with people who already are who you want to become.
That will infect you with the behaviours and attitudes that helped them achieve their success, making it more likely that you will realise similar results in your life.
There is no doubt about that.
The Chasers Meet Up is the ‘axe’ we are sharpening and is available for any business owner who wants to change, who want to accelerate their success by increasing their knowledge and understanding by listening to leading industry experts – many of who I have met and heard present first hand.
If you want to see different results in 2024, then you need to do something different!
Have a great day!
