Hello Chasers,
Remember that chat we had about daily huddles last week in What’s Working Wednesday?
Let’s dive a little deeper into how to make them work like a charm.
A quick daily check-in can be a game-changer for productivity and team spirit. Here’s a simple, six-step plan to get you started:
- Pick a Perfect Time
Find a slot that fits everyone’s rhythm. We like to huddle up around online at 10 AM to tackle those early morning emails and set the day’s agenda. And then, we reconvene around 4 PM to review progress and plan for tomorrow. The key? Start and end on time, every time. It shows everyone you value their time.
- Choose Your Spot
Consistency is key. Pick a place – whether it’s a physical room or a virtual space – and stick to it. Since our team’s spread out, we meet online and try to keep things moving by standing up during the call.
- Keep the Crew Tight
Less is often more. Invite only those who need to be there. A small group means more airtime for everyone.
- Find Your Huddle Rhythm
For frontline folks, one daily huddle is usually enough. But for managers, two might be the sweet spot: one with your team and another with your boss. We’re a small, remote team, so two huddles a day help us stay connected and focused.
- Pick Your Huddle Leader
In the beginning, choose someone who’s good at keeping things on track. They’ll also need to be the ‘cut-the-crap’ police when conversations wander. To build leadership skills, we take turns running the show.
- Set the Agenda
It’s simple: What are you working on? What’s done? What’s blocking you?
Spend the first five minutes sharing your top priorities for the day. Keep it short and sweet! Then, quickly run through your team’s key metrics. Look for trends that might give you an edge. Lastly, spend five minutes on roadblocks. Be honest about what’s holding you back, and let’s find solutions together by brainstorming some problem solving solutions..
And that’s it! It’s easy to set up, and the payoff is huge. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes!
