What’s Basketball Got to Do with Business?

Hello Chasers,

I was watching an NBA game today and was fascinated by the simplicity in some of the plays and systems they use that allowed easier scoring.

It brought back memories of when I represented a Victorian team at the Australian Under 20 Championships in 1980 and the relentless training we undertook to learn and practice various plays and systems to increase our success at scoring against the other states.

As a youngster, basketball was my passion. I would dribble, learn tricks and all sorts of drills to increase my reaction times and agility to beat defences and score. It still captures my imagination because it really is an exciting sport that requires coordination, strategy, and teamwork.

Successful basketball teams use a system of plays to score and win games.
